This thread is here so that everyone can introduce themselves to everyone else.
My name is Scott, I'm one of the Bull City Homebrew crew. I live here in Durham and couldn't be happier. I've been brewing for about 6 years now, time really flies. I started with a basic brewing equipment kit and now I live in what my mom refers to as the "frat house", which basically means that I now own more than a basic equipment kit.
This year, I'm going to be trying to make the beer I wanted to make for the last homebrew advent calendar... peppermint brown ale. I have this image in my head of exactly how it will taste, and it's amazing and holiday-ish, but when I added it to a sample of my brown ale last year, it was awful. I bailed out on the plan, and just contributed a normal brown ale. It was good, but a little boring. This is the year that peppermint brown ale shall rise from the dead!
So how about you? Who are you? Where are you? And what are you brewing?
Can't wait for Dec. 1st already!

Hi there, I am Ian. My fiance' Jennie and I are contributing two different brews this year. I am a big fan of rich, beefy dark beers, so I am planning to make a cranberry-infused winter-type stout. Jennie will be making a yet-to-be-decided hard cider.

Hi Ian, glad to have you and your fiancee on board! Your cranberry stout sounds fantastic, and this will be the first time that we'll have a cider in the mix. Can't wait to try them!

Greetings,
My name is Tony Copeland with the Clayton Area Homebrewers and this is a really cool idea/project. My work and family brings me up I-40 by Bull City Homebrew every few weeks. About me.... ummm, I enjoy just about any beer, have 4 kids under the age of 10 (which keeps me busy), and have been brewing for almost 2 years. I decided to get started a little early, took the day off work, have my beer mashing in the cooler. I am looking forward to trying everyone's beer , discussions, and getting feedback on my brew.
Thanks, -Tony

My name is Ricky and I live in Raleigh, but have cause to pass through Durham now and then. My cousin (who I believe is also contributing) clued me in to this last year and it was a such a blast that I was hoping we'd do it again this year!
I've been into ciders recently, but didn't originally think about doing one for the Advent Calendar since they tend to improve with age and I didn't want to contribute something too young. However, I've been wanting to brew Brandon O's Graff for some time and figured now would be a great time to try it out.
Hopefully it turns out well; I'm looking forward to the feedback!

Hello all. My name is Jason. I have been homebrewing for 4 years, but did not experience the greatness of Bull City Homebrew until about 2.5 years ago. I live in Chapel Hill but work less than a mile from the shop. This is my first year doing the calendar. While I realize it is not much a winter/December brew, I will be submitting a Saison brewed with 3711. Perhaps it will be a nice reminder of warmer summer days about the time the temperature starts to drop.

Hi Ricky, that's cool that we're getting a cider this year. I've made graff before too and really liked the way it came out, can't wait to try yours.

Hey tallguybrewer, the beer you contribute doesn't have to be holiday themed at all. A saison in the mix sounds awesome. Glad you joined in this year!

Hi, I'm Brian and I've been brewing off and on for 12+ years now. The last 3 years have been more on than off and I tend to brew primarily hoppy beers since that's what my friends and I like to drink. I also have young kids so making the time to brew has led to late nights, but I don't mind. I am psyched for this holiday case and am leaning towards brewing a dry hopped american brown or maybe a black IPA that will keep the roasty flavors to a minimum so the hops can take front seat. I can't wait to taste the variety of brews that wind up in the calendar and discussions that will result from the tastings!

Hi Brian, I love the hoppy beers too. I actually have a black IPA on tap now, it's one of my favorites. I've done those late night brews, too... kids are asleep, time to make beer!

Hello everyone!
My name is Kyle, I help Scott around the shop. I live in Durham, in what could be called a house that has been taken over by a brewery. Last years Beer Calendar was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to trying lots of delicious homebrew! Now I just have to figure out what to brew.

Kyle, you should make that same inky black stout that you made for last year's calendar. You said that was a pretty easy recipe to make, right?

Donovan here. Just getting back into brewing after about 2 years off. My lady and I brewed a chocolate porter and spiced bourbon stout this weekend. We'll be contributing whichever one tastes better. Excited to try all the different brews...
