Hi I'm Jennie, fiance of Ian who has already introduced us. I would add that we are getting married in June and are brewing all of the beer and cider for the wedding so we enjoy getting feedback about our concoctions. We actually began by taking the Bull City Hombrew class a year ago and Ian has continued to get more and more invested in the hobby. He eventually used the wedding as an excuse to upgrade to all grain brewing. Our house is now filled with all sorts of beer making supplies and we have more bottles hidden in closets and drawers than I ever imagined. While my cider making skills are slightly more rudimentary than his brewing skills, I am going to try to make a spiced dry cider perfect for the winter. Also, we will be pouring at the upcoming BrewDurham festival and would love to meet other brewers in person!

Kyle, you should make that same inky black stout that you made for last year's calendar. You said that was a pretty easy recipe to make, right? Yeah, easy peasy. I'll just whip up a batch after work today! Shouldn't take more than a week. No, I think that after being denied hops for the last few weeks I want something hoppy. I just can't figure out if I want an IPA, Black IPA, or tongue searing DIPA. Maybe just a nice hoppy stout. --Kyle

Hey everyone My name is Kyle and I live in Chatham County. A friend and co brewer is doing this and told me about it. I am pumped to be a part of this and can't wait to try everyone's brews. I'm working on an oatmeal stout to contribute. I'm trying a new recipe but I have high hopes and it's one of my favorite styles. Cheers!

Hi all, my name is Arne! I'm a Durham native, and got in to home brewing about 5 years ago while living in Oregon. About a year and a half ago I moved back to Durham. I'm really excited to taste some delicious beers in December! My contribution is a holiday spice ale (ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, and a touch of molasses) fermented with 3711. It's already fermenting away, because, by a happy coincidence, I'd put on a holiday brew right before hearing about the advent calendar!

Hi all, my name is Jeff and I live and work in Durham. My neighbor told me about the calendar and I am excited to take part this year. I have a hoppy red ale in the fermenter right now that I plan on contributing, if it does not turn out well I have a case of a blonde ale I made that is aging nicely on reserve.

I'm working on an oatmeal stout Hi Kyle C! We have two Kyles now so we'll have to pull out the last initials. Actually we have two Scotts too, so it's all good. Oatmeal stout sounds like the perfect beer to pull out on a December evening, sounds delicious!

You definitely have a love connection with those milk stouts! I remember your Creme Brule Milk Stout from last year, and a pumpkin pie one sounds great too.

by a happy coincidence, I'd put on a holiday brew right before hearing about the advent calendar! The brewing gods have spoken, and I think you may have been called upon from above to make that beer. Sounds awesome! By the way, if you haven't met him yet, Arne is our newest member at Bull City Homebrew. So when you taste how good his beer is, feel free to stop by the store and bug him for some extra bottles of it. We know where to find you Arne!

Hey everyone,
My name's Aaron, and I've been brewing for about 4-5 years, but not too frequently. My girlfriend Amanda and I usually brew 2-3 beers each year. My friend Ricky and his cousin-in-law Greg did the Advent calendar last year, so we thought we'd get in on it this year!
We just brewed an English pale ale, and added paradise seeds and (bitter) orange peel for what we hope will be a wintery/holiday touch.
We're excited to try everyone else's!
