I'll try to keep this short. I haven't brewed in a couple of years, so this is the first brew I've done in a while and hopefully it translates OK. I was behind the 8 ball from the get go and did not have the proper amount of time for it to be complete, although this version it might be able to be overlooked. It spent its appropriate amount of time in fermentation and dry hopping phase, but could probably have used another week or two conditioning. That being said, if you are familiar with Szechuan peppercorns, these can really act as a floral hop in aroma and flavor. The next time I brew this I will probably use slightly less on the peppercorns. The recipe is as follows:
5.9oz Caramel 10 1# light dry extract 3.3 # Pale LME 3.3# Maris Otter LME 1oz Chinook-60min .5oz Citra-60 min .25oz Amarillo-30 min .25oz Amarillo-15 min .25oz Amarillo-5 min Whirfloc Wyeast 1056 .50oz Citra- Dry Hop .25oz- Amarillo- Dry hop 3oz Szechuan Peppercorn- Dry Hop 1oz green tea leaves steeped in 1 qt water added at bottling Priming sugar IBU-25.9 SRM- 6.8 ABV-5.8%
The bitterness came up short, according to BeerSmith, but I was hard pressed to understand why. Lastly, my apologies for the sediment as I filtered this through fine mesh twice.. If anyone has a good suggestion on how to top this, please let me know. It's been a lot of fun trying everyone's brews and I'm glad we still have 2 weeks to go. I hope you all enjoy my entry and feedback is welcome and necessary. Happy Holidays.
Cheers Derrick and Kristina

I really dig the peppercorns, adds a lot of floral character and a spice after taste, really good. The aroma jumped out at me, you could sell this as a scented candle and I'd buy it. Great job!

How was the carbonation level?

Oh, oops. Mine poured with almost no head and was a little flat, but not too bad. Clearly it didn't affect how much I liked it, since I forgot to mention it entirely.
I want another one.

Really nice beer. Incredibly interesting and unique. Refreshing - would love having this during the heat of summer.

This was a great divergence from standard beer styles. I really enjoyed the aroma and initial taste, but I must admit my palette got a little fatigued from the peppercorn by the end. Still, the beer was very well made and I really enjoyed tasting something with atypical beer ingredients. Mine had low carbonation, but the peppercorns added a spritz that made it seem more carbonated than it actually was. Thanks for brewing this up for us to try!

This was a very cool intro to a new ingredient for me. I liked the flavor/aroma, though it did seem to overwhelm the beer for my tastes. How long were they in? Mine was on the low side of carbonated, but I thought it was in line with what I would expect from a pale ale.

The aroma is excellent on this brew. I have never had peppercorns in a brew. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks -Tony

From the first sampling to the last the flavor and aroma had faded considerably. I was afraid it would fade completely.

I really liked this beer, I drank it yesterday and didn't take notes, so I'm a bit of a slacker, but I remember it being very good.

Just opened it and love it. As aromatic as any beer I've had. Wonderfully floral in almost a sweet way. The tea is a real nice addition. +1, would drink again.
