I don't have any information on this beer other than that it's an Irish Red, so hopefully Ricky can add some details.

That's weird...I have a message in my Proboards outbox from December 1st with the recipe. Here it is, in any case!
Recipe: 6.6lbs light LME 8oz Caramel 120L 1oz Chocolate
1oz Golding @ 60 min 1oz Fuggle @ 5 min
Safale S-04 (English Ale)
OG: 1.051 FG: 1.012 ABV: 5.1%
I just cracked mine open and my first impression is that the carbonation is good, but it's sweet. What would cause that?

Hi Ricky,
I poured mine. Nice deep red bordering on brown with a creamy head that disappeared quickly. Very nice looking beer. Not a lot going on in the aroma, but that's really the style -- Irish red's are just not that aromatic. Taste is very clean and a little sweet, but not overly so, I think. I think the finishing hops are not typical for the style, but I like them there just fine. This is a sessionable beer that is tasty & easy to drink.
I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would. Thanks!

Just got to try mine tonight, wooo 2 beers tonight , not a bad Irish Red, I've always had a hard time with the few reds I have tried. This one is a little on the sweet side, but very drinkable.

I tried this myself last night too, and it was very tasty. I'm in the same place as spindermonk, I'm not a huge fan of Irish Reds, but this was a very good beer that matched the style well. The color was really pretty and it drank nice and smooth. Thanks for brewing this one Ricky!

Ricky,
Like others, I've never been a big "red" fan, but it's certainly is an easy sipper.
To me, the bready/caramel sweet taste is clearly up front and I can pick up just a touch of that chocolate malt after each sip does down. No strong smells, but like mentioned above, that's the style!
A good beer to relax with. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Ricky,
I just poured mine and it's perfectly carbonated, nice head that quickly was replaed with lacing, good reddish color. Sweet malty aroma, sweet flavor but enjoyable taste. When you pitched the yeast, did you directly add it to the cooled wort or did you re-hydrate it first? Thanks for sharing!

Just finished this one, it is a bit sweet but no overly so. I enjoyed the rich caramel and toffee flavors, good beer on a rainy night. --Jesse

Just popped this open (catching up after being away for a week) - and it's a pretty nice departure from some of the other beers we've had. It's not too sweet, IMO - and I actually get quite a bit of toffee in this. Crisp too. And nice color for the style.
